After no Silver Y at Peterborough home garden in ten nights of light-trapping spread throughout June, two of the dark, deep-winged "home-bred" form appeared in the catch on 9th July. The species has been similarly scarce on my local day-time butterfly transect in June.

1 PALPITA VITREALIS TO 22 WATT ACTINIC IN MY EASTBOURNE GARDEN ON THE EVENING OF JULY 1OTH, ALSO 1 SILVER Y.

Night of 10th July
1 Spurge Hawkmoth and 1 Evergestis limbata to mv.

10th July: Hummingbird Hawk through the garden.

9th July: Small Marbled to MV trap in garden. Also Diamond backed moth.


8th July: Silver Y and Diamond backed moth in MV trap.

9th July... 3 Hummingbird Hawk moths in the garden. Several have been seen most days over the last two weeks

Night of 9th July: A fourth Small Mottled Willow, following other records over the last week. Also, Several Silver Y and Diamond back moths last night

2 Hummingbird Hawk-moth and a Painted Lady here yesterday.
