The first Silver Y of my season came to MV last night, the 8th, whilst out trapping in a local wood. Today 6 Red Admirals were seen on a regular one mile walk around the village - up to today only singles have been noted.

Clouded Yellow: one on 6th May, one on 7th, possibly four on 8th; Painted Lady: three on 7th and one on 8th. Also at least 6 Humming-bird Hawk-moths over the week-end.
To MVL on night of 6th May after massive thunderstorm, Oak Hook-tip and Seraphim, both new to Alderney, however common they may be elsewhere, and both probably migrants. Also five scarce chocolate-tip, probably resident. |
