Female Vagrant Emperor at Samphire Hoe CP, Dover, Kent this afternoon.
In a brief lull in the strong wind (1425-1435), I had a female Vagrant Emperor flying round the small, southernmost pond at Samphire Hoe CP - 30m N of the beach access point. The critter also flew around (over and landing briefly in) surrounding short vegetation, but disappeared suddenly at 1435. I did not relocate in the next 45 mins - although the wind was strong, so it could easily have been perched up. No photos, I'm afraid - I had my macro lens on the camera, and that wasn't going to do the trick for a creature 5m away. |
