Humming-bird Hawk seen flying into my garden shed at 19.30 this evening. Have been told of another on Portland today and one in Weymouth last Sunday (27/3).

My first Diamond-back of 2011 in the garden trap last night. Also Blossom Underwing and Dotted Chestnut.

Night of 28th March, Eastern Nycteoline N. asiatica to light; our second 'spring' record (one on 9/4/10).

Loe Bar: 2 Painted Lady's along with 4 Peacock's and 2 Large White's. also Hayle Estury: 1 male Holly Blue and 1 male and 1 female Dotted Border at rest on the base of a tree trunk. |

Night of 25th March:
1 Dark Swordgrass amongst a suddenly much improved catch, i.e. trapping every suitable night from 01/11 - 24/03 produced a total of 22 moths, last night about 40 moths. |

25/3/11 - 2 Holly Blue this afternoon on edge of south west facing fields at Toll Point,on the Helford estuary.

Blossom Underwing this morning in much increased MVL catch, with SE wind from France. 3rd island record.

22nd March, Large Tortoiseshell at Mannez Quarry (the first of the year, probably resident) along with Red Admiral & 2 Peacocks.
