I don't know if you want odd records but I was on the coast path between Peranuthnoe and Prussia Cove this afternoon just east of Cudden Point SW 552 278 when a Painted Lady came flying low up the grassy slope from the sea at high speed, whizzed past my knee and continued up the hill. It looked in good condition. Bright sunshine, sheltered from cold north-east wind. Kate Dalziel

24/02/2011:Humming-bird Hawk-moth flying & hovering over a bank of nettles near the sea at Stokes Bay,Gosport,Hampshire.

Not an immigrant but on 19/02/11 a freshly emerged Speckled Wood butterfly in Longrock village during the early afternoon. This is not the 1st time I have recoreded this species outside its normal flight time, one was also noted alive on 19/12/2005 in Penzance Town Centre.

3 Painted Lady reported west across Kennack Sands on 19 February

A dragonfly, presumed a Vagrant Emperor, was reported from Kennack Sands, W. Cornwall, on 19 February. There do seem to have been several around this winter.
