4 more Rannoch loopers last night. Most of our current 'migrants' like Delicate, Clancy's etc are residents, but (eg) Green Oak Tortrix viridana are likely to be migrants !!

25 Rannoch Loopers last night in local woodland between 9.30 and 11pm. All to a 400w m.v. + four in garden, one to 400w and three to 125w m.v. Smaller, darker and fresher than last years examples, can they be offspring using something other than Bilberry?

Another three Rannoch Loopers here - one 16/6 and two last night. Barry Banson also had one at Greatstone last night. I didn't trap any last year so I'm making up ground.

One Rannoch Looper in Robinson trap this morning - a male in very fresh condition. Probably quite a lot around at the moment.

Kicked-up one Rannoch Looper Itame brunneata yesterday evening near the moth trap, but unable to catch. Had four in traps this morning, smaller and darker than last years examples and a lot fresher. Suspect there may be thousands out there, to get four in my garden. Had 14 last year in Kentish woods, but none in garden!
Regards, Tony. |
