NMN in back garden. Far too cold. Only 9 moths of 5 species including waved umber.

NMN event at Ventnor Botanic Gardens. Cold, not much happening so packed up before midnight but Rob Wilson had a Portland Ribbon Wave to 40w actinic

Stupidly cold out there. Ran 3 MVs at 2 sites, but turned them off at midnight. The two woodland traps totalled 23 species, nothing interesting. The suburban garden MV had 2 moths in it. :( |

Red Admiral here today, first one of the year.

Last night usual small numbers of moths in traps at Longstone. Migrants were Rush Veneer 3.Recently small no's of Silver Y,Dark Sword-grass and Pearly Underwing.
Today a superb Hyalophora sp (Silk Moth) adult female was found by visitors at the Star Castle Hotel. |

A Striped Hawk was in the actinic trap in the garden this morning.

2 Red admirals basking & flying high in aerial combat on 30th April in Gosport,Hampshire.In Sussex 20 Red Admirals were reported on 30th April and a Painted Lady on 17th & 30th April & 1st May.
