25/7/09 : A big influx of Hoverflies through the garden form the East throughout the morning. Large Whites, 7-spot Ladybirds & Hoverflies all seen coming in off the North sea in good numbers early this afternoon.

1 migrant hawker first date here 2009 22 July 52 painted lady 23 July mainly on buddelias, here daily circa 50+ of note: male southern hawker-blue abdomen seen twice here,identified 2nd sighting on 18 July via a close encounter. |

23/7/09 : After a few weeks with Painted Lady Butterflies in single figures, today they were in double figures again with some individuals looking very fresh and others dull. Also Peacock Butterflies about in greater numbers than in recent years.

2 Small Mottled Willow here at 125W MV last night here in Wadhurst. Silver Y recorded also.

Whilst working today, came across a Purple Emperor butterfly resting on a window pane. First time i have ever seen this insect. Hell of a butterfly.
