Night of 8 July 2009:

Small Ranunculus - third site record.
Early Grey - extremely late record!

Other recent highlights include Wood Carpets on 2 and 7 July - first site records; 'hundreds' of Diamond-backs, 'tens' of Bird-cherry Ermines; a handful of Rush Veneers, Dark Sword-grass & Silver Y.

a bit late but 04/07 trap had a cracking Cynaedes dentalis
Others of interest included P.xylostella (11),U.ferrugalis (2),N.noctuella (40),Orange Footman (1),Four-spotted Footman (1),Dark Sword-grass (5),Small Mottled Willow (3) and Silver Y (2)
Recently 100-150 migrants most nights inc.Pearly Underwing,Delicate and White-speck also Scilly rares Brown-tail,Dun-bar,Saltern Ear,Purple Clay (first since 57),Cream-bordered Green Pea,Coronet and Lackey.
By day still plenty of Red Admiral,Painted Ladies,P.xylostella,N.noctuella and Silver Y.Humming-bird Hawks are now daily (1-3)

(1367) Night of Saturday 4 July 2009:

A massive haul of moths with literally thousands trapped (with P. Clarke and R. Hilton).

Highlights of c220sp at Hollesley included Red-necked Footman (2), C. rhododactyla (5) and Rosy Marbled (9).

At Bawdsey: Evergestis limbata (2) - second and third County records - see photo. The first record was also at Bawdsey in 2006.

Varied Coronet and Shaded Fan-foot both new to Bawdsey; Bordered Beauty the second site record.

Also hundreds of Diamond-back Moths, Bird-cherry Ermine (20), Dark Sword-grass (1) and Silver Y (4) caught at Bawdsey.

Night of 4 July: 65 Brown-tails in the garden at Church Cove (only 22 recorded there in 14 years of trapping so quite an influx).
Noticebale immigrant activity in the last week with records of 3 White Satin (rare in Cornwall), 2 Figure of Eighty, 3 Small Mottled Willow and 4 European Corn-borer, as well as conspicuous influxes of Cream-bordered Green Pea, Spindle and Bird-cherry Ermine,
