Night of 30 June: Scarce Black Arches trapped.

Night of 30th June - total of at least 48 Silver Y to three traps left overnight at private woodland site at Hockley, Essex. Only had a singleton to my garden trap a couple of miles away.

Clancy's yesterday & Langmaid's this morning - colonists or migrants ? (coincided with an increase in Silver Y's & Diamond-backs yesterday plus a larger dose this morning both in and out of the traps). Also only the 2nd Dark Swordgrass of the year yesterday.

Catoptria verellus (Marbled Grass-veneer) trapped on night of 28 June near Maldon, Essex and Shanklin, Isle of Wight.
Also singles trapped at Findon Valley, West Sussex on 19 June and at Geldeston, Norfolk on 15 June. |

40+ Southern Emerald Damselfly (Lestes barbarus) were found at a site near Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire on 21-24 June - this is the first record for central England. However, they now appear to have dispersed - observers in the general area should keep an eye out!
