Cold east wind affected the traps. Late afternoon (18/10) in a small weedy field on St.Mary's produced a Crimson Speckled,double figures of RDP & RV ,two Vestal, two Scarce Bordered Straw & a Silver Y. Looks promising for tonight with wind the same as afternoon (180') and 14kt |

Three hours with two lights produced 3 Vestal, 1 Scarce Bordered Straw and 1 Udea ferrugalis among a small variety of other moths

Migrant moths increased again last night on St Agnes, Isles of Scilly - 17/10/17.
of note were 15 Vestals all in one trap, with a range of colours! 8 traps plus ivy - (L. Finch, R. Hemming & me) our totals were; Rusty-dot Pearl 26 (23) Rush Veneer 3 (6) Turnip 4 (4) White-speck 109 (57) Pearly Underwing 4 (1) Dark Swordgrass 4 (1) Vestal 17 (2) Gem 1 (0) Scarce Bordered Straw 4 (0) Delicate 1 (0) Small Mottled Willow 1 (0) Figures in brackets are previous night totals. |

An additional record of interest is of birdwatchers finding a Crimson Speckled on Wingletang, St Agnes, Scilly by day today - 18/10/17 - this was definitely not the same moth trapped a few nights ago on the island.
