Migrant totals - 8/10, (totals for 9 traps - Robin Hemming, Les Finch & me):
Rusty-dot Pearl 81 (61) Rush Veneer 1 (5) Silver Y 2 (1) Delicate 1 (4) White-speck 43 (47) Turnip 5 (15) Dark Swordgrass 3 (5) Pearly Underwing 4 (10) Palpita vitrealis 1 (2) Gem 1m (2) Golden Twin-spot 1 (0) July Belle 1 (0) Ivy was OK but soggy again in heavy mizzle plus cold NW wind. Migrant numbers in general were slightly down, but Golden Twin-spot is our star moth in over 3 weeks of trapping here this year! July Belle was incredibly fresh - will it be a continental immigrant or a very late extra brood of residents? Figures in brackets are previous night totals. C. plebejana is trapped every night here where it is resident as it is surely also in Cornwall and Devon coastal sites. |
