Despite recent uninspired weather, a male Lesser Emperor dragonfly was reported from Trimingham, Norfolk, on 17 September [J. Gearty]. Just possibly it's a Northern European-bred one migrating south??

17/9 with 6 traps - Counts for the night were;
Rusty-dot Pearl x 1 Dark Swordgrass x 3 Pearly Underwing x 1 Silver Y x 1 & 1 x Four-spotted Footman which I assume was a resident? |

Here are my counts for 16/9 with previous night's figures in brackets; Rusty-dot Pearl 13 (10), Rush Venerr 6 (9), Convolvulus hawk 1 (1 - this was a different individual), Dark Swordgrass 23 (20), Pearly underwing 20 (30), Delicate 2 (4), Scarce bordered Straw 1 (2), Silver Y 4 (6), White-speck 1 (0), Pale Mottled willow 1 (0). Also increased surely due to migration? were Setaceous Hebrew Characters up from 99 to 207?

great night last night for migrants with 7 traps - 15/9 - not sure why with north winds! Rusty-dot Pearl x 10, Rush Veneer x 9, Dark Swordgrass x 20, Pearly Underwing x 30, Delicate x 4, Scarce Bordered Straw x 2, Silver y x 6, Cosmopolitan x 1, Convolvulus Hawk x 1, Nycteoline sp x 1, plus commoner species possibly migrants too with 99 Setaceous Hebrew Character etc.

Yesterday evening (15th) at 19:15. Hummingbird Hawk-moth flew into my garden and after briefly hovering around the Nicotiana flowers, flew off at high speed. Wind NW, force 2-3. Temperature 9.70C
