Migrant moths last night with 14 traps on 1/10 were still thin on the ground with a cold NW wind, but as it was dry and the ivy is coming out in full blossom then ivy checking was good.
I think the 70 White-specks found on ivy prove that the species must be at least a transitory resident here as well as migrant. It was by far the commonest moth on ivy (is anyone else checking ivy much - it was more productive than traps last night?) Rusty-dot Pearl x 11 Rush Veneer x 6 Vestal x 1 Convolvulus Hawk-moth x 1 Turnip x 9 (6 on ivy) Dark Swordgrass x 2 (1 on ivy) Pearly Underwing x 2 (on ivy) White-speck x 109 (70 on ivy) Silver Y x 3 |
