(8884) Another Convolvulus Hawk-moth nectaring on our Nicotiana flowers at 2030 last night.

Set the MV trap afterwards but only migrants were one Udea ferrugalis and 2 Silver Y (very fresh, probably newly emerged).

and no hawk-moths at all!

myself & David Price ran 6 traps on 19/9, but numbers plummeted for the 2nd night running!
Migrant totals for last night were;
Hummingbird hawk x 2 (daytime round flowers)
Convolvulus hawk x 1 (dusk at flowers)
Diamond-back Moth x 1 (would you believe that's our first in 4 nights trapping!)

A lot of Vestal have made it to VC4 with 21 at single MV trap on Sept 13th, 3 on 16th, and 2 on 19th.
Night of Sept 19th also 1 Pearly Underwing and 3 Silver Y.
Also had a Ypsolopha sequella which is not from this area.

Night of 19 September: 47 Diamond-back Moth, 1 Olive-tree Pearl Palpita vitrealis, 14 Rusty-dot Pearl, 24 Rush Veneer, 2 Convolvulus Hawk-moth, 6 Silver Y and 4 Scarce Bordered Straw.

Also 1 Great Silver Water Beetle.
