Night of 5th August 2016: 2 Cydia amplana, 1 Acrobasis tumidana, 2 Nomophila noctuella, 2 Silver Y plus c.40 Plutella xylostella.

A Death's Head Hawkmoth was found dead on the lawn beside the overnight MV trap. 3 Silver Y in the trap, and at least 10 seen in the wider countryside during the afternoon of the 6th, along with 2 Painted Lady.

Night of 5 August: 169 Diamond-back Moth, 20 Rush Veneer, 1 Sulphur Pearl, 1 European Corn-borer, 3 Dark Sword-grass, 1 Small Mottled Willow and 65 Silver Y.
Also a Red Admiral and 3 Peacock butterflies in the moth traps. At least 4 Painted Lady and 30 Red Admirals on Buddleia this morning. |

18 silver y`s flushed from sand dune grassland this pm (5/8); also red admirals in garden today and yesterday. One diamond-back in light trap last night.

1 Painted Lady in pristine condition nectaring on Burdock edge of Rough Lot, Trent Park (TQ 286 978) at 10:30 hrs.
