Despite the recent moth arrivals, dragonflies have been conspicuous by their absence until very recently. Within the last few days, individuals have however been recorded from Lancashire on 22 December, Devon on 26 December and Nottinghamshire on 27 December. The last two individuals were reported as Common Darters. Are these late residents (or even early-emerging individuals), migrants or mis-identified Vagrant Emperors? It will be interesting to see if yet further individuals are noted.

Encouraged to trap in the rain by the Atropos Editorial, I put out a trap in what proved to be a wild and very wet night last night - 25/12. A very nice Christmas present awaited me this morning - Euchromius ocellea, new to Carmarthenshire. I`ll post a photo on the `Carmarthenshire Moth Blog` later today.
