St Agnes, Isles of Scilly trapping last night 3/10. Lots of moth-trappers over here makes a good collective effort. 14 traps were running last night and I don't have a full count from all the traps, so numbers for several species are minimums, but here are some highlights:
Small Mottled Willow x 3; Diamond-back Moth x 1;Gem x 1;Red Admiral x 3 (in moth traps); Rusty-dot Pearl x 50; Rush Veneer x 31; Silver Y x 8; Scarce-bordered Straw x 1; Dark Sword-grass x 2; Clancys Rustic x 1; White-speck x 4; Large Wainscot x 1; Delicate x 3; Convolvulus x 2; Blairs Mocha x 1 and Storm Petrel x 1 attracted to moth-trap! A young bird nearly fledged and obviously from a nest nearby. Storm Petrels now nest successfully on the island since rats were wiped out. |
