The night of the 13th of August produced a new garden record and quite a rare migrant in the Midlands. Palpita vitrealis/Unionalis .
Best i could do without it flying off.

1 Porter's Rustic, quite a surprise !

I trapped Cudmore Grove, Essex with Dougal Urquhart and 7 traps between us in preparation for moth course at Flatford Mill this weekend and there's a great set of moths for people to see on the course already. Interesting night with lightning and heavy rain when setting up traps, but min temp of 18c all night !
Migrant moths were;
Sitochroa palealis x 1, Rusty-dot Pearl x 2, Tree-lichen Beauty x 3, White-point x 3, Dark Swordgrass x 1, Small Mottled Willow x 5, Silver Y x 4, Convolvulus Hawk x 1 and my first Ni Moth of the year!
Residents included Saltmarsh Plume, Platytes alpinella and 42 Sandhill Rustics. (plus 2 further tree-lichens at Flatford Mill)

Night of 13 August: Silver Y (3), Dark Sword-grass (5), Dotted Footman (2), P. xylostella (1), Waved Black (1)

Night of 13 August: 5 Diamond-back Moth, 2 Crocidosema plebejana, 9 Rush Veneer, 4 Rusty-dot Pearl, 1 Ancylosis oblitella, 3 Dotted Footman, 33 Dark Sword-grass, 27 Small Mottled Willow, 3 Bordered Straw, 1 Scarce Bordered Straw and 49 Silver Y.

The highlight was, however, the first Goat Moth for the site.

Night of 12th August. Single Rush Veneer and male Four-spotted Footman to garden actinic.

Night of 11th August: Singles of Dark sword-grass and Silver Y. 4 Plutella xylostella and 5 Nomophila noctuella.

Perfect ni last night (11/8) at home

Night of 11 August: 1 Convolvulus Hawk-moth, 1 Bordered Straw and 5 Small Mottled Willow.
