Thanks for that Steve - I was thrown both by this moth being much bigger (nearer the size of the Beauties) and the trailing edge being much darker than is illustrated in the Field Guide!

It's a Tawny-barred Angle.

What I presume to be a Bordered Grey? I am not familiar with this species and there don't seem to be too many images on the net. There are no Devon populations of Bordered Grey as far as I am aware, so I suspect that this may be an immigrant. Thoughts welcomed.

A Hummingbird Hawkmoth appears to have taken up residence in my garden, it's been present daily since last Sunday

Aedia funesta at Kingsdown last night - 13 June. First for UK.

Red-veined Darters on 13/06/2014. At least four males were resting on the track and tide wreck to north of pool, also a pair in cop there. Probably more were over the pool.
