At c 15.00hrs on Weds 14/5/14, I saw a red-coloured darter fly up my garden path. It landed on the ground only c 1ft from me. Unfortunately I was carrying two large branches in both hands and as I stooped down to look, it flew off. However, it looked like a adult male Sympetrum and with an element of orange/yellowish in the wing. The winds have turned markedly warm and southerly since this morning.
