Thurs 17th Oct:at least 6 male Long-tailed Blues were seen by Neil Hulme at Brighton Racecourse,near extensive allotments and close to the first UK sighting in 1859(as reported in sussex-butterflies.org.uk).Neil has seen at least 33 different Long-tailed Blues at 5 sites along the Sussex & Kent coasts in 2013.At least 50 must have been seen in 2013,exceeding 38 in 1945.

On night of 19th male Four-spotted Footman at Hythe (actually first caught on 18th and re-trapped). This afternoon a Bloxworth Snout found in old military buildings near Dover.

Forgot to mention in my previous post. I found an 'Unarmed Stick-insect' in Hayle on 18th October, which has now laid a few eggs. Not really sure if this unusual or not, if anyone is interested please contact scottbarr50@yahoo.co.uk.

Thurs 17th Oct:I should have made it clear that the the 2 very fresh female Long-tailed Blues and 3 males,including a mating pair,at Minnis Bay,near Margate,on the north coast of Kent,reported on ukbutterflies.co.uk,were NOT seen by me but seen & photographed by Lee Hurrell,"Hoggers" & others.
