Good to see a few migrants again; night of 14 October produced:

1 Diamond-back Moth, 4 Rush Veneer, 1 male red-striped Vestal, 11 Dark Sword-grass, 5 Scarce Bordered Straw and 11 Silver Y.

Sat 12th Oct:on a day's walk along and near the Gosport coast:Clouded Yellow 16,Red Admiral 20(taking ivy nectar),Small White 12,Small Copper(3rd brood) 4,Common Blue(3rd brood) 1,Comma 6,Speckled Wood 8,Total 67;Common Darter 6.Also a very small Painted Lady on 10th Oct.

Night of 12th October, very wet but mild for our last public moth night of the year. 31 species recorded including a single Pearly Underwing the first record here for almost exactly two years!

What a difference a week makes from 642 moths down to 40 in the trap this morning,but had 1 Dark swordgrass and 1 Diamond back.

Combined results for St Agnes, isles of Scilly - numbers of migrants showed small improvement - R. Hemming, A. Goddard, D. Grundy, L. Finch - 7 traps on night of 11th Oct;

The reported Oak Processionary moth trapped on Orfordness in August has been confirmed to be a Pine Processionary Thaumetopoea pityocampa.
