20 Diamond-back Moth, 1 Ethmia bipunctella, 1 Rusty-dot Pearl, 4 Latticed Heath, 1 White-banded Carpet (new to VC25 and first recent Suffolk record), 1 Dark Sword-grass, 11 Tree-lichen Beauty and 780+ Silver Y.

22/8. One Clouded Yellow this afternoon; another CY flew through Bishop's Hull village yesterday afternoon.

On Sunday 18th August at about 2.30 pm I saw Danaus plexipus (Monarch butterfly) in the garden. It settled on some geraniums and I got a good look at it but unfortunately no photograph. It was extemely worn, with most of the orange colour worn away and just the black veins showing. It flew away along the hedge line and passed me on the way back and then disappeared. From a distance it looked the size of a sparrow in flight!

Night of 21/08/2013: Cydia amplana to 30w twin ALS Robinson trap.

At the very tail-end of four-spotted footmen here. Last night (21st Aug) I visited the site I recorded over 200 a fortnight ago and there were just 4 females but in my garden I had a tiny pristine male. Could this be 2nd brood? Also immaculate common quaker!!

Singles of Clouded Yellow and Painted Lady in the grassland, along with countless Silver Y and a single Brown Hairstreak.

Male Gypsy moth in trap last night,
new for my site which borders Epping Forest.

Combined total of nine Clouded Yellow and two Painted Lady at Yarty Moor, Jan Hobbs and Bishopswood Meadows. Also nine Silver Y.
