Paid a visit to Collard Hill NT reserve at Street, Somerset on Tuesday 25 June. The weather was warm, sunny with occasional cloud. Had 3-4 Large Blues which only flew in sunshine and promptly disappeared with it went cloudy. The flight period is way behind usual as there should be many more Large Blues about - only about 6 have been seen this year. Also had 1 Painted Lady, couple of Common Blues, 6 Small Tortoishells and lots of Meadow Browns. There was a report of a Marbled White yesterday but is was not seen today. Numerous orchid species were in flower both on the reserve and across the road at Ivythorne.
