12/9/2012:After a pair of clouded yellows had roosted together on a south facing bank by the sea,the male flew off when he was rejected by the female. The female was then carefully coaxed to transfer to my left index finger, where she remained for ten minutes while I walked to the adjacent warmer and more sheltered east facing bank. When she had warmed up in the morning sunshine, she flew onto the bank to take sea radish nectar and continue basking. This very close encounter with a clouded yellow was a first for both of us and it certainly made my day!
