At 1am on 5/7 (=night of 4/7) a male H livornica (Striped Hawk) to one of 3 MVs run all night - one A ipsilon (Dark S-Grass) and aprox 50 A gamma (Silver Y)also seen

Night of 5th July, first good MV night for weeks(unfortunately only one trap put out...) Migrants: Gem & 35+ Silver Y; probably residents: Delicate (3), White-point (6), Orache (1, first of year), Conisania andalusica, = our version of Barrett's Marbled Coronet (3, including one melanic), Portland Ribbon Wave (1), Rusty Dot Pearl (1)

Single male Lesser Emperor today at a private site in Cheshire.

|
At least 12-15 Red Veined Darters at Kelling Quags (Kelling water meadows), Norfolk including an ovipositing pair. Best viewed from the barbed wire fence overlooking the water on the seaward side of the meadows where they fly very close and land on the footpath and grass.

While perhaps not a migrant in the strictest sense, a male Four-spotted Footman (Lithosia quadra)turned up in my garden 125w MV Robinson this morning (4th). It appears that this could be only the 3rd record for this species in VC37 with the previous record some 13 years ago, also in Kings Heath (I suspect probably to Dave Grundy)!
