A Hummingbirg Hawkmoth found today inside the observatory at the London Wetland Centre, Barnes. Almost certainly an over-wintered individual.

We trapped in a garden next to Harewood Forest last. 102 moths of 9 spp including a Red-headed Chestnut - new for vc12. All previous records in our area have been in Oct - Nov except one on the IoW on 13.02.2004.

Speckled Wood,very fresh,basking & flying on 16th Feb 2012,the earliest ever Hampshire sighting,beating 9th March 1992 at New Milton.I have now seen a Speckled Wood in Gosport in every month except January.
