Yesterday,27th Sep, with a last chance of winds from SW for a while I decided to take a quick visit to Swanage. On arrival in Bournemouth at 3.pm I found very warm and sunny conditions at 24 dgrees celcius . I was encouraged as a light brown coloured locust landed on the car as I refuelled at Sainsbury filling station.
During the first 2 hours of dark at Durlston C.Park there was a steady flow of migrants in a light SW breeze before a strong northerly set in.During this short period 3 Delicate, 2 Dark Sword-grass,10 Silver Y and a Silver-striped Hawk-moth arrived. Unfortunately I only got two brief glimpses of this Hawk-moth as it landed on the moth trap before a stong gust blew it away never to be seen again. I am 90% certain this was celerio and not livornica. |
