National Migrant Dragonfly Update
Unlike the case with Lepidoptera, migrant dragonflies have been rather scarce during June, with just two records of Red-veined Darter (Cley, Norfolk, on 3 June and Sandwich Bay, Kent, on 16 June) plus two reports of Lesser Emperor (Stover, Devon, on 9 June and Tundry Pond, Hampshire, on 13 June). Hopefully the coming warm spell might change this. On the near Continent, Willow Emerald Damselfly is now starting to emerge. Who will be the first to find the species in Britain this year, following last year's dramatic records? |
