Yesterday afternoon, 1 July, muggy before slight overnight rain, hundreds of red-necked footman swarming above coastal trees. They are resident here but some were actually seen flying in from France (7 miles away) & there were 30+ in MV trap this morning together with 12 Evergestis extimalis & 7 delicate (both species also resident & migrant here). Also yesterday, 3 red-veined darters at Mannez quarry pond.
