Moth trap in inner city Birmingham back yard - only one migrant - Silver Y this morning. (trapping night 9th August). But also potted in trap was this exotic looking pyralid. It appears to be identical to the illustration in Goater for 1401 Mung Moth - Maruca vitrata (testulalis). Can anyone confirm my ID and that there are no similar species? Also Goater lists 5 specimens, has it become much commoner since then - does anyone know its current status? I presume that this is an import with food materials, as i live at the centre of the Balti food area of birmingham!
